Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, on Thursday, laid the foundation stone for the prestigious Data Centre Park in Vizag. Spearheaded by the Adani Group, the Data Centre Park is expected to be established with an estimated cost of Rs 70,000 crore to emerge as one of the largest tech hubs in the country. The renewable energy powered 5 GW Park is expected to be developed across three campuses in the coming 20 years.
Speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony, Chandrababu Naidu said, “Each time I visit Visakhapatnam, there’s new-found energy and excitement. The city is fast-growing and is one of the most happening places in the country.” Highlighting the city’s beauty, the Chief Minister added, “I took a ride around the IT hill today and can say that there’s no place in the world that can match the beauty of this place.”
He further appreciated IT Minister Nara Lokesh for convincing the Adani group to invest in Visakhapatnam. CM Naidu went on to elaborate on the importance of data and how it would play a significant role in future economies. IT Minister Nara Lokesh, HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao, and top officials from the Adani Group were present at the event in Vizag.
Lokesh took to Twitter to share that the upcoming Data Centre Park would establish Andhra Pradesh as the data hub of India. “The first phase of the project will witness an investment of Rs 40,000 crores and will create employment opportunities for 28,000 individuals,” the minister tweeted
.Lokesh further stated that while the first meeting with the Adani Group took place on 23 October 2018, an agreement was reached between the two parties on 9 January 2019. Pointing out that the foundation stone for the project was being laid on 14 February, the minister exuded confidence that the construction works too, will be carried out at a rapid pace.
