Vizag reported 74 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday evening, the total number of confirmed cases in Vizag reached 2,530. According to the COVID-19 Special Officer for Visakhapatnam, Dr PV Sudhakar, 963 patients are undergoing treatment in the district and 1,521 individuals have been discharged after recovering from the virus. In the past 24 hours, the district death toll increased to 46, as six patient has succumbed to COVID-19.
As per the evening update, the authorities have demarcated 31 clusters ( Apollo Hospital – Arilova, Arilova, Annaya Colony- Narsipatnam, BC Colony – Vepagunta, Bhanoji Thota, Tagarapuvalasa, ITI Road Bharat Nagar, Kailasapuram, Kapuntungalam -1, Mithilapuri NGO’s Colony, Neellavalasa, Neyyali Veedhi, Pedagadilli Junction, Pedagadilli new, Peda Rushikonda, Ranapratap Nagar, Vepagunta, Gopalapatnam, Pedagadilli, Sundernagar, Swatantra Nagar, Thatichetlapalem, Venkatapuram, Visalakshi Nagar, Woodyard Street and Yendada) as the new containment clusters in Vizag district. As on 15 July, the very active clusters in the district stood at 129. In Vizag, 212 clusters have been marked as active. 217 are considered as dormant clusters. 39 containment clusters were denotified.
Andhra Pradesh, on Thursday, reported over 2500 COVID-19 cases in a single day. As per the bulletin released by the Health Department of Andhra Pradesh this afternoon, Andhra Pradesh reported 2593 new COVID-19 cases as the tally rose to 38044. While 2584 of these cases are from the state, 9 are from other states.
Andhra Pradesh also registered 40 new casualties due to COVID-19 in 24 hours. 8 from East Godavari and Prakasam, five from Chittoor, four from East Godavari, four from Kadapa, three each from Anantapur, Vizag, Nellore and Guntur, one each from Kurnool, Srikakulam and Vizianagaram died due to COVID-19 taking the death toll in Andhra Pradesh has now surged to 492 cases.
22,197 samples were tested across Andhra Pradesh in 24 hours. So far, Andhra Pradesh has tested 12,40,267 samples for COVID-19. While 19393 individuals (including the 943 individuals discharged today) have been discharged so far, 18,159 COVID-19 cases in the state have been marked active as on Thursday afternoon. Of the active patients, 15,285 are undergoing treatment at hospitals while 2,593 are at COVID Care Centres.
