Five days after the attack on City’s Doctor… the investigation continues in Vizag

Five days ago, Dr. Balaji Bushan Patnaik, 35 years, was attacked with acid near the Pandimetta Power Station, Vizag by two unidentified persons. According to the police, two men approached Dr. Patnaik’s car knocking on his window. When he rolled down the window, one of them flung acid on his face, Immediately, the duo sped away on a motorbike.
However, the case is proving tough to crack, and the police are yet to make any headway in investigation. A group of locals had rushed him to the LV Prasad Eye Hospital, Vizag and from there to the ICU of the Seven Hills Hospital. This has been, by far, one of the most disturbing incidents in Vizag recently, especially within the medical fraternity.

East Zone ACP Narasimha Murthy, has said, “So far, we have checked CCTV footage and followed all other due processes of investigation. We looked at earlier cases, and verified some claims, but nothing has been established so far.” In fact, even the victim is unable to shed any light on any suspect. He, by far, does not have any enmity with and does not see why anyone would want to do this to him.

Whilst Dr. Patnaik is being taken to Mumbai for further treatment, the police are still investigating further on this. The even more disturbing angle is the “no motive” factor. Does that imply that the people had done this for some perverted sadistic pleasure. This is more dangerous for the citizens than a motive driven purpose to carry out such a horrendous act.
