Vizag is gearing up to host the second ODI between India and West Indies. Scheduled to be played on 24 October, the match has already sent the fans into a state of frenzy, given the array of stars who would be seen in action in the city. With less than a week to go to the match, the officials have upped the ante in readying the Dr Y.S Rajasekhar Reddy ACA-VDCA stadium and other facilities for the players.
The various stands in the stadium are being cleaned and readied for the spectators. The pitch too, is being prepared under the supervision of the Pitch Curator Naga Mallayya. While heavy rollers are being used to prevent the formation of cracks on the pitch, super soppers have been readied to handle the situation if it rains on the match-day. The dressing rooms and gyms have also been brought into a high order for the big day.
The teams will be arriving in Vizag on 22 October and take part in a few practice sessions before facing each other on 24 October.
Vizag last played host to an ODI between India and Sri Lanka in December 2017. The game witnessed Shikhar Dhawan battering the Islanders with a blistering century as the home side cruised home to victory.
West Indies will play 5 ODIs against India starting on 21 October. The first cricket match in the 50-over format will be played in Guwahati.
