Over the past few years, Vizag has held prime importance in the growing landscape of Andhra Pradesh. While the tourism sector has flourished and continued to attract tourists from all over, the industrial belt too has managed to fare well. However, like in any other growing city, Vizag scene as well has been hampered by a few persistent issues. While some of them still remain unresolved, the officials have come forward with plans and projects to address a few. Here are 5 upcoming projects in the city that are deemed to make life easier in Vizag.
NAD Flyover is expected to bring about a much-needed change in the area which experiences heavy vehicular traffic. Being a prime junction in the city, NAD, over the years, has been witnessing high levels of congestion and the upcoming flyover, which is taking shape thick and fast, is one of the much-awaited upcoming projects.
In what might turn out to be a huge relief for the denizens of Visakhapatnam, the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) identified hawkers zones in the city. The step is expected to reduce congestion on roads and facilitate smoother traffic flow. Reportedly, the GVMC has identified 11 vendor zones in the city and has sought inputs for setting up hawkers zones at these locales.
In addition to the upcoming flyover at NAD junction, Vizag’s Convent junction too would soon be having a new flyover to ease out the traffic in the area. With Port Trust Chairman M.T Krishna Babu’s efforts paying a dividend, the officials of National Highways Authority of India handed over the construction responsibilities of the flyover to M.V.R Infra.
The underground parking is proposed to be extended up to YMCA and also including the area behind Rajiv Smriti Bhavan and in front of the Andhra University Convention Centre. The parking area is likely to stretch over 1.1 km and width of 18 meters to lodge close to 900 cars and 300 to 400 two-wheelers.
Viag is all set to get underground electrical cables installed in the coming days. The authorities say
that the project will help in withstanding devastations caused by the natural calamities Underground cabling when put in place, is expected to ensure that the impact of natural calamities on important utilities is minimized and therefore damage is reduced.
