The people of Vizag are facing problems with the Meeseva branches present at different locations in the city as some of the officials are demanding a bribe for the commencement of services.
For services related to revenue and education, the staff at various centres are reported to be demanding more money. Recently, few of the Meeseva centres have been closed for illegal changing of the date of births by accepting extra money. Students especially are facing a lot of trouble as they are not receiving the required education certificates from Meeseva centres on time. Only if extra money is offered, the certificates are being delivered.
In Vizag, 118 centres are under AP Online and 229 are under Ram InfoTech. The remaining are under CMS Computer Limited which are being operated in rural places of the city.
The service charge was Rs 35 two months before and now it has been revised to Rs 45. Normal service charge has to be paid if the certificates collected by the customer do not exceed 5. But, due to lack of awareness among the customers, the management is charging extra service charge.
Even though some of the important certificates could be delivered right away, the management at the Meeseva is dragging the date of delivery from 10 days to 1 month. For corrections in Aadhar card and date of birth certificates, the officials are demanding extra charges.
If caught waging extra money, for the first time the management would be facing a fine of Rs 2000, for the second time the fine would increase to Rs 5000 and the centre would be closed.
The Tahsildars should be frequently checking the Meeseva centres but it is not happening anywhere in the city.
One Meeseva in Seethammadhara and two in Muralinagar have been closed for improper maintenance and bribing charges.
