Visakhapatnam District Collector, K. Bhaskar has sought a detailed report on Vizag metro rail corridors within fifteen days. In the report, the officials are expected to detail the government and private land requirements for the much-talked-about project in the city.
Addressing the meeting held at the Collectorate on Tuesday morning, the Collector ordered the officials to mark pegs and plant boundary stones by surveying the 42-km long metro corridors planned in the city. It is known that while the first corridor for Vizag metro rail would be laid from Gajuwaka to Kommadi, the other two are likely to find a place along the routes of Gurudwara-Old Post Office and Thatichetlapalem-Chinna Waltair respectively.
The Collector further informed that regular meetings will be held with officials of Revenue, Railway, Tourism, R&B, NHAI, and other departments to review the progress of the project. N.P. Ramakrishna Reddy, Managing Director of Amaravati Metro Rail Corporation, General Manager, Rao, and other officials were present at the meeting.
With an estimated cost of Rs 8300 crores, the metro rail is one of the bigger scale projects coming up in Visakhapatnam. It may be recalled that the concerned officials had earlier surveyed the corridors for Vizag metro rail project. Survey officials Vijaykumar and Ravichandra, along with other officials, had participated in a two-hour-long survey at Sheela Nagar, Akkireddypalem, Nathayyapalem, BHPV, Gajuwaka, and other areas.
