Jagadamba junction to get Vizag’s first multi level car parking facility

The much-awaited multi level car parking facility in Vizag might soon turn into a reality in the city. With the tenders for the being finalised, the facility is likely to be constructed across 367.8 square metres near the Jagadamba junction.

As per TOI, the project is expected to accommodate close to 100 cars in five-levelled facility. According the information given by a GVMC official to the daily, the multi level car parking facility will be enabled with the feature of live-tracking of vacant spots to make life easier for its users.

The project is expected to ease out the traffic congestion in and around the busy area of Jagadamba junction, where finding a viable parking spot has turned into a headache in the recent past.

Earlier, the Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authorities (VUDA) officials contemplated the development of an underground parking facility at Siripuram.  VUDA had also proposed to build a similar underground parking facility at the beach road as part of the Integrated Museum and Tourism Complex. The complex is proposed to connect the Submarine Museum and TU 142 Aircraft Museum on the beach road. The underground parking is proposed to be extended up to YMCA and also including the area behind Rajiv Smriti Bhavan and in front of the Andhra University Convention Centre. The parking area is likely to stretch over 1.1 km and width of 18 meters to lodge close to 900 cars and 300 to 400 two-wheelers.
