Those commuting through the cramped lanes of NAD junction might soon be in for a major respite. Considered to be one of the busiest areas in Vizag, NAD junction has witnessed the traffic snarls amp up owing to the ongoing construction works of the much-awaited flyover in the area. To ease up the same, the officials have reached an understanding to clear certain decks.
The compound wall adjoining the Naval Science and Technological Laboratory (NSTL) will be cleared to provide an alternative route. Reportedly, Vizag West MLA PVGR Naidu (Gana Babu) met NSTL Director, OR Nandagopan on Tuesday and discussed the same. With an agreement being reached between the two, the works will begin from Wednesday and the traffic is expected to be diverted from the evening. With this, the much-awaited bypass route will soon be available to the commuters from Gopalapatnam route.
The past few months have been witnessing an ever-increasing traffic congestion at the NAD junction. With numerous vehicles coming to a standstill frequently, the travellers and pedestrians have been enduring a torrid time trying to cross the signal.
“With the traffic choking up on a regular basis, steps had to be taken for an alternative route through the area, after discussing with the NSTL officials. The alternative route can be used from Wednesday evening. While two-wheelers and cars would be allowed through it with immediate effect, it will be a few days before buses can use the route,” MLA PVGR Naidu was quoted
