A rather bizzare incident has been reported from the Duvvada police station in Vizag. A police constable, A Siva Satynarayana, was caught driving under the influence of alcohol in a regular check by the traffic police in Vizag. After the III Town police station constable failed the breath analyser test, the traffic authorities seized his vehicle and issued a challan.
Satyanarayana later attended a counselling session and paid a fine in the court to get back his vehicle’s keys. However, what followed left the authorities bewildered.
After getting the keys, an embarrassed Satyanarayana barged straight towards his vehicle and dropped a lit matchstick in its fuel tank. Luckily, other policemen put out the fire and prevented any further mishaps from taking place.
The cops have now pressed two charges against Satyanarayana- Section 285 (negligent conduct with respect to fire) and 436 (mischief by fire or explosive substance with intent to destroy a house, etc.) of the IPC.
Reportedly, the accused told the cops that he was embarrassed for being caught while driving under the influence of alcohol and felt that his bike was the cause behind his humiliation.
