In what seems to be the conclusion to the gruesome murder that came to light in Vizag, the police have arrested the deceased’s live-in partner on Saturday. A partly charred body of an unidentified woman was found between Kothapalem and Narava under Pendurthi police station limits in the city on May 3.
After not being able to get any leads for almost two weeks, the police finally collected evidence with the help of the woman’s jewellery and the CCTV footage obtained near the crime spot, it has been reported.
Reportedly, the accused, identified as R Satish, killed his live-in partner, identified as K Sujata, by strangling and burning her after she allegedly objected to his plans to marry someone else.
As per the police, Sujata was a divorcee and had two kids with a man from Nellore district. She had moved to Vizag in 2011 after separating from her husband. She then worked as a sales agent at a herbal centre where she befriended Satish.
Satish later opened a photo studio at city’s NAD junction before the duo moved in together in 2016.
However, irked with his plans to marry someone else, Sujata tried to intervene his procedures by going to his village and claiming that they both had already tied the knot in Simhachalam. After this, Satish hatched a plan to kill Sujata and picked her up from her hostel for a movie on May 3.
“After the movie, Satish took Sujata to an isolated place near the Railway Layout and strangled her to death with a nylon rope. In his bid to destroy the evidence, he doused her body with the petrol from the fuel tank of his bike before setting it afire,” DCP (L & O), South Zone, T. Ravi Kumar Murthy was quoted as saying.
