The Vizag Port is going to invest Rs. 450 crore for the development of expansion projects including the development of a multi-cargo. The Minister of Shipping, Mr. Nitin Gadkari inaugurated many such development projects on his visit to the port.
He inaugurated a Container Freight station of one lakh TEU capacity which is being developed at a cost of Rs.104 crore on an area of 34 acres. He inaugurated the commissioning of 6.35 MV out of 10MW solar power plant. The power generated by the plant will meet the consumption of the port and the excess power is proposed to be sold by the third party agreements, as informed by the Ministry.
A liquid cargo berth developed on Private Sector participation at a cost of Rs. 55.38 crore was also inaugurated. The minister also reviewed the progress of two berths which is under construction.
