Two state owned power distribution companies are going to start accepting payments through Bharat QR. It is a inter-operable quick response code acceptance solution. It is launched by Reserve Bank of India. The payment options introduced not only helps customers in easy and secure payment but works for Vizag smart city plans. Bharat QR: It is a secure, network agnostic interface that enables customers to use smartphones to make payments. The personal information is kept secure without compromising privacy. Card numbers and CVV number is secure. Global payment technology company Visa and Andhra Pradesh government have come together to deliver this digital payment initiative. The digital payment option is for the customers of Eastern Power Distribution Company of AP Limited (EPDCL) and Southern Power Distribution Company of AP Limited (SPDCL).
According to sources Vizag is on it’s way to becoming the first cash-less city in the country. Government is looking into doing away with removing surcharge on digital payments.
