Vizag is progressing in leaps and bounds and the one of the first in line for adopting the cashless city goal is our very own Railway Station. 100 % Digital Enables Pay or DiGi Pay has been enabled at the station. The services have the goal of making cashless transaction a more convenient norm for customers. Looking at the bigger picture, the central government is aiming at ‘Digital India-Digital Railways’. The vision is for cashless transactions and technology at point of sales to enable smooth adoption by people. Digi Pay services have been started at the ticket counters, reservations, water vending machines, cloak rooms, coffee, tea stalls, ATMs, parking, parcel office, book stalls, fruit juice stalls, toilets etc.
On the East Coast Vizag is the biggest railway station of the ECoR. The railway station looks at a traffic of 118 trains, 60,000 footfalls and an accumulated revenue of Rs.30 lakhs per day. It will have a global impact for the station to go cashless in transactions. A giant step forward. It is being monitored by officials at various points of sales regarding the on ground efficacy of the digital payment plan. Customers are being encouraged to adapt this mode and there is absolutely no pressure. It is the convenience that the move wants to highlight.
As per The Hindu reports State Bank of India has also provided help desks and information booths for promotion of digital transaction among rail users. A collective campaign and appeal has been launched to make journeys, transactions and railway station experience hassle-free and modern. Railways request passengers to help make the vision for the country a reality starting from Vizag.
