R & B Minister Ch Ayyannna Patrudu, Principal Secretary (sports) L V Subramanyam and the collector Pravin Kumar inaugurated new sports academies at Parwada. Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh(SAAP) academy for the sport of archery and rifle shooting is at Sanskruti Global School at Parwada. At the inauguration, the new sports policy of the state was highlighted. A need for reservation for sports persons is very necessary. Reservation or sport quota helps new entrants take up sports enthusiastically. The need for sport quota in public service organisation is very important. As of now only railways and Oil companies have sports entry. This has to change, the inaugural address followed.
SAAP Academies are being launched in Public Private Partnership models. This will provide buildings and necessary infrastructure. 6 sport academies are being launched and persons who qualify national and international levels will get appropriate training. Out of the 6 academies, three each for boys and girls is being provided for.
Sport academies in the state will provide a fillip for those talented and not finding a platform. While the lack of sport potential is being lamented, a boost is necessary. Establishment of these academies is a step forward in the direction. Now talent has a place for honing, learning and improving. The reference to public service organizations to provide sports entry is a positive step as well. This will give an additional incentive to people who want to take up sports without missing job assurance.
