Vizag gets a head start in Swachh Survekshan 2018

Vizag is currently in the second place in the Swachh Survekshan. More than 71,000 people from the city recorded their feedback.Reportedly, only South Delhi Municipal corporation is said to be in the lead finishing at 1.11 lakh responses.

In comparison to other major cities of Andhra Pradesh such as Vijayawada (12,106 responses), Tirupati (17,425), Rajahmundry (15,549) and Kakinada (10,012), Vizag has garnered more responses. The other cities that are trailing behind Visakhapatnam nationally are Indore and Tiruchinapalli gaining 62,502 and 52,992 responses respectively.

GVMC has taken leaps in exercising programmes of its own apart from those set by the Ministry of Urban Development. Swachh Bharat

is the country’s mission and every city finds its own way to realize them. GVMC has taken praiseworthy steps for improving the city. The results are realized practically and are sustainable too.

The GVMC is on a stern mission to secure the leading position in this year’s Swachh Survekshan. To achieve this feat, the Civic Body is spreading awareness about this survey via hoardings, videos, etc in hopes of getting more number of people to participate. It even plans on sending 15 Lakh bulk SMS to the residents requesting their participation.

The GVMC Commissioner M Hari Narayana told TOI that people can submit their feedback using the Swachatha app or website.

Another senior GVMC official was quoted as saying “Currently we stand ahead of many major cities of the country. We request the public to actively participate in the survey to get the coveted first rank. We are getting 3,000 to 4,000 responses every day from residents of the city.”
