To promote AP tourism abroad and attract foreign tourists, a team of tour operators from Vizag will take part in a tourism meet held in Berlin in March.
Speaking about the same in a conference organised by CII, in association with Ministry of Tourism on ‘Destination Vizag’, the principal secretary (Tourism) N Srikanth reportedly said, “The tour operators will have the required itineraries prepared and with the help of tourism operators over there, will come up with attracting deals for the foreign tourists.”
He also said that the number of tourists visiting the state from across the world has increased in the recent past and among the facilities provided to them luxury rooms are the priorities. Since there are only few five star hotels in the state, the authorities are planning to build 1,000 luxury rooms.
The state has been divided into five zones- Vizag zone (Vizag-Vizianagaram-Srikakulam), Konaseema zone (Konaseema-Rajmundry-Kakinada), Amaravathi zone, Kurnool and Nellore for proper development. The principal secretary said that they have classified tourism into eight categories including Beaches, Heritage, Buddhism and Medical and took developmental activities.
Reportedly, post IFR there has been a rise of around 30 percent in air traffic in Vizag. Meanwhile, Collector Pravin Kumar said that in recently organised CII Partnership Summit, a large number of MoUs have been signed for Visakhapatnam.
