In a step that is expected to ease out the traffic congestion in one of the prime locales in Vizag, the Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authorities (VUDA) officials are mulling the development of an underground parking facility at Siripuram.
The underground parking facility would be constructed by integrating multiple buildings and properties at Siripuram, it has been reported.
Earlier, VUDA had also proposed to build a similar underground parking facility at the beach road as part of the Integrated Museum and Tourism Complex. The complex is proposed to connect the Submarine Museum and TU 142 Aircraft Museum on the beach road. The designs for the same are expected to be finalised soon after which, they would be presented to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, informed VUDA Vice-Chairman P. Basanth Kumar.
VUDA Vice-Chairman P.Basanth Kumar informed that the underground parking was being followed up aggressively as the multi-level parking scheme couldn’t be executed due to problems faced in getting land.
It has been informed that VUDA, in its 2018-19 budget, has earmarked an amount of Rs 10 crore for the underground facility at Siripuram.
The upcoming project is expected to ease out the traffic congestion at Siripuram, which witnesses heavy traffic due to major facilities such as Gurazada Kalakshetram and VUDA Children’s Arena during important events.
