Vizag weather update: It’s that time of the year for Vizag once again. As the city approaches the fourth year post Hudhud’s devastation, it’s the Titli cyclone now that has pressed the panic button among the citizens. However, making a landfall near Gopalpur in Odisha, the cyclone hasn’t caused much of a ruckus in Vizag.
Speaking to Yo! Vizag, an official at the Cyclone Warning Centre informed that the very severe cyclonic storm (VSCS) has crossed the coast near the Andhra Pradesh-south Odisha border. Vizag, on the other hand, is not likely to be affected majorly apart from receiving a few showers and going through a breezy day.
Informedly, the officials have also asked the concern authorities and personnel at the Kalingapatnam, Gangavaram and Vizag ports to lower the danger signals. However, it would be advisable to follow precautions and not venture into the sea.
Titli crossed the coast on Thursday early morning, with a wind speed of close to 150 kmph. In addition to shutting down schools and colleges in a few districts, the Odisha government has also evacuated about 3 lakh people from coastal districts to safer zones.
Control rooms and shelter homes have been set up at several locations. NDRF and ODRF teams have also been deployed in key districts.
