Heavy rains to lash Vizag as depression approaches the coast

The past few weeks have witnessed varying weathers in Vizag. While the days have been extremely sunny, intermittent showers have been lashing the city in the evenings and nights. With a recently issued cyclone warning circulating on social media, a sense of panic seems to have set among the citizens. Here’s the official update on Vizag weather as received from the Cyclone Warning centre.

As per the information received, heavy rains are likely to lash Vizag in the coming few days. The depression over the Bay of Bengal is being expected to magnify into a heavy depression, thereby causing downpours in the city.

It has been learned that the depression is currently travelling towards the North Coastal Andhra Pradesh

Speaking to Yo! Vizag, an official from the Cyclone Warning Centre informed that there’s a chance the depression might grow stronger in intensity by Thursday evening.

“At 5:30 am, the depression was hovering at 60 km from the South East of Kalingapatnam at 17.5 degrees of latitude and 87.5 degrees of longitude.” the official further added.

In addition to issuing the prerequisite warnings, the officials have also alerted the fishermen from not venturing into the sea.
