Visakhapatnam Port Trust (VPT) is taking its expansion plans to a whole new level and setting up another 5MW solar power plant, in addition to the 10 MW one previously reported. The 10 MW solar power plant that is under progress will meet the consumption of the port and excess power will be sold through third party agreements.
The 5 MW project is likely to be tackled in the new fiscal. VPT Chairman, MT Krishna Babu confirmed to TOI that they are planning a 5 MW project. They are now focusing on the 10 MW power project as thet are yet to invite tenders for the 5 MW one. The Chairman said that he met APEPDCL to fix a commercial operation date for 6.25 MW of the 10 MW power plant. The project will reportedly be functional within a week. The rest of the 3.75 MW will be completed by December.
