Coming as a big boost to the Waltair Railway Division’s operations, the newly-renovated Satellite Depot at the SSE Track Machine Office in Visakhapatnam was inaugurated on Tuesday. The new depot was inaugurated by the East Coast Railway (ECoR) General Manager, Vidya Bhushan. During his visit, he inspected the Track Machine Office and also flagged off a new UNIMAT machine. This machine will be utilised by the Waltair Railway Division in track maintenance in and around Visakhapatnam.
UNIMAT is a type of tamping machine used by Indian Railways. Its role is to make the railway tracks more durable by the usage of track ballasts.
In the inauguration ceremony of the renovated Satellite Depot, Divisional Railway Manager Anup Kumar Satpathy and other railway officials were also present.
Marking the Vigilance Awareness Week 2021, which is observed in the last week of October every year in Visakhapatnam, GM Bhushan also administered the Integrity Pledge to all the officers and staff of the Waltair Railway Division at the DRM office in the city. Vigilance Awareness Week, coinciding with the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, is celebrated every year to encourage the fight against corruption and to protect integrity at all costs.
GM Bhushan and DRM Satpathy also participated in the 9th Biannual General Body Meeting of ECoR, which was held at Ashirwad Community Hall in Visakhapatnam.
