With the start of the winter season, the city of Vizag has been experiencing chilly winds throughout the day and roads have started to desert from 10 pm itself. The days have become cooler and the nights are freezing in some parts of the city. Although the average temperature in the day time varies from 24 degree Celsius to 31 degree Celsius, during the night it drops to 17 degree Celsius.
Usually the winter season starts from late November to early December in the city of Visakhapatnam but this year the cool atmosphere took over the city since early November. Since winter has already begun,Vizagites are already taking measures to cope up with the chilly winds. Although there is variation in the temperature among the different parts of the city, Sagar Nagar and AU road remain the coldest. Areas with less population and pollution like Visalakshi Nagar and Madhurwada tend to be more cold as compared to the more populated and polluted areas of Complex and Jagadamba Centre. People have been seen wearing jackets and caps and the consumption of tea/coffee has increased as per the local chai bandis.
With the arrival of winter, readers are requested to take care of themselves and their families as this season brings along many viral diseases with contagious cold and fever. It is important to moisturize your skin daily to maintain a healthy skin and apply sunscreen every time you step in the sun. Avoid long steamy showers as it will only result in dry skin this season.
A massage with mustard oil will get rid of the dry and rough skin and will leave the skin shiny and healthy. Avoid eating ice-creams and other chilled food and drinks as they may result in a blocked nose. Use Eucalyptus oil while washing the woolens and sun bathe at least once a week. This will maintain the vitamin D level in your body and will help to level the body fat. It is recommended to always have a cough syrup in your first aid kit and rush to the doctor if the cough/cold persists for more than a week.
Winter season brings a lot of joy as we get to eat all the exotic winter dishes. The famous ‘GAJAR KA HALWA’ tops the list and ginger tea remains an all time favorite. Although the demonetisation and winter leaves the roads deserted after 10 pm, many people flock to the nearest tea stalls to enjoy hot tea at midnight.
Lots of citrus fruits along with green vegetables are imperative for a healthy digestive system and a glowing face all through this season. The below given recipe will help you to get rid of that pesky sore throat, which one is prone to in winter.
