We are living in a world where everybody is running around the clock for various reasons. Everyone is trying to keep up with the fast world. We don’t see what we eat, or what air we breathe, who has the time? We constantly deal with stress but we don’t realize that the stress we bear leads to various cardio-vascular issues. Heart diseases have become one of the leading causes for death, claiming 17.3 million lives every year. It is important for us to take care of our heart. It’s World Heart Day!
Here, we list out 5 tips to maintain a healthy heart.
Say no to Smoking
It is the main cause of coronary heart disease. Passive smoking also poses a risk to your health. Help yourself as well as others to quit.
Eat Healthy
We know it is very hard to stay away from our favourite foods but avoid Trans fats (in fried food, packaged food items). Our heart also needs nourishment!
Be Active
Everybody knows that exercising once a day is necessary but no one practices it. The least anyone could do is not to sit for too long, take short walks in your office or use the stairs instead of the lift.
Get some sleep
Yes, you heard that right, getting enough sleep is very important to maintain a healthy heart. Try to get at least 6-8 hours of sleep every night. You can binge your favourite TV series later!
Laugh Out Loud
Literally, not just in texts. Laughing reduces stress, decreases inflammation in arteries and increases the levels of good cholesterol.
These are just a few tips, but you can do a lot of stuff to maintain a healthy heart. Listen to music, eat dark chocolate and eat lots of nuts!
