The month of February took off on a bright note in Vizag as the World Meet of Round Table 92 was organized in high spirits. A three-day event that marked the conglomeration of delegates of Round Table 92 from across the globe, the WRT92 meet this year proved to be a special one.
Around 73 guests from 9 countries arrived in India to take part in this prestigious event. Soaking in the rich and diversified cultures of India, they visited Chennai, Madurai, Kanyakumari, Kovalam, and Cochin, as part of their South India tour.
February 1st saw the guests arrive in Vizag to a warm reception by the city’s tablers who hosted them. After the event was flagged off by a grand welcome party, the subsequent two days had the members tour various popular sites in the city.
On the second day, the members visited several schools, including the club’s pet project at Burma camp. This project aims at building a school, named World 92 school project, at the locale.
On their way back, the guests even had the opportunity to get a glimpse of city’s heritage sites at Thotlakonda. The third day was filled with tours to the museums and famous shopping places where the guests got to experience the quintessence of the city.
The evening had the presidents of the clubs from their respective countries officially discuss on multiple topics. While the representatives of the 10 countries discussed regarding their experiences over the three days of the event, other issues such as fund-raising initiatives and donations towards several causes were also talked upon.
The event was concluded with a gala dinner which was themed around the traditional Indian style and even had striking performances of Bharatanatyam and the Dhimsa.
It has been learned that the foreign tablers were truly delighted with the way the event had panned out over its span. From getting to know the local traditions, to being treated to some of the most authentic Indian flavours, the guests surely seemed to have a memorable experience.
