Free Entry at Tourism Spots
It is World Tourism Day tomorrow and Vizag is gearing up for it. Being a major tourist hub in Andhra Pradesh, Vizag is filled with tourist hotspots – not even counting the multiple beaches it has. All major tourism spots in the city like Kailasagiri, Submarine Museum, Visakha Museum, Indira Gandhi Zoological Park, Thotlakonda, VUDA Park and more will be free for entry tomorrow. Even the Hoteliers Association of Visakhapatnam have gotten on board by deciding to provide a 10 percent discount in all the star hotels in the city.
Ramps for Physically Disabled – Tourism for All
The long stretch of footpath along Ramakrishna Beach has now been provided with ramps for physically disabled persons. The two and half kilometre stretch has been identified as the longest footpath along any beach road in the country. The AP Tourism Department and GVMC have declared the theme for this year’s tourism day as ‘Tourism for All – Promoting Universal Accessibility’. The ramps will finally provide accessibility to physically challenged persons to gain independent mobility.
NPRD – Battery Operated Vehicles and more
The state president for National Platform for the Rights of the Disabled (NPRD) Koduru Appala Naidu wants battery-operated vehicles at tourist places or wheelchairs be provided in the least. He wants the physically challenged to be exempted from entry free at tourist places so as to motivate them. He also wants guides to be posted at these places for their convenience.
Cultural Extravaganza
Cultural treats marking the World Tourism Day would be organised on the Beach Road, opposite Viswapriya Function Hall. Dhimsa dances, singing, food stalls, photo exhibits, handicrafts stalls and more can be expected.
