As a resentment against the attitude of political leaders towards the special status for Andhra Pradesh, YSRCP leader YS Jagan has called for a state-wide bandh on July 24.
Addressing the reporters in Kakinada, YS Jagan lashed out at AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for “hurting” the sentiments of people of the state. “Naidu and the central government colluded and denied the people of Andhra their rights. Who is the Chief Minister to say that a ‘special package’ is enough, when he did so last year,” Jagan was quoted as saying.
The opposition leader sought the support of all the other parties to exert pressure on the centre to grant Special Category Status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh.
He also reiterated that YSRCP is the only party that has stood firm on the SCS for the state. “Earlier, when Arun Jaitley had announced a special package to Andhra Pradesh, Chandrababu Naidu had welcomed the move. He had also published a book on TDP’s Mahanadu claiming that the Special Status wasn’t useful to Andhra Pradesh,” Jagan said.
